Swarnmandir Jewel Designer

Swarnmandir Jewel Designer is tucked away on the second floor of the Santhrupthi Complex. We are right there on Vivekananda Road, which stays pretty busy most of the day with people going about their business. Being on the second floor means we have to walk up the stairs every morning, but it’s a bit quieter up here than down on the street level. We spend our time working on different jewelry designs, usually sitting at the benches for hours until a piece looks right. The lighting in the shop is something we are always adjusting because you need to see the stones clearly to do a good job. Customers find us after coming through the main entrance of the complex and heading up. It isn’t a huge space, just enough room for the workstations and a place for people to sit when they come to talk about what they want made. Most days are spent with the sound of small tools clicking and the smell of polishing compounds in the air. We keep a ledger for the orders and try to stay organized, even when things get a bit cluttered with sketches and small bags of metal. It’s a practical sort of place where the focus is just on the bench work. People in the neighborhood know the building well, so we get locals stopping by quite often. We just keep our heads down and get the work done.
