Jain Constructions Pvt Ltd., Bangalore

We started Jain Constructions Pvt Ltd in this part of Tumkur a while back. Even though our name mentions Bangalore, our actual place of work is at Bhagavathinilaya in Mahalakshminagar, which is in the 2nd Stage area. If you know the 4th Cross in Batawadi, we are right there. It is a quiet spot most days, though the morning traffic gets a bit loud near the main road. The building is easy to find if you look for Anandakumar Av’s place. We spend a lot of our time here just going through papers and taking calls from people about their building plans. It’s not a big fancy office with glass walls or anything. It’s just a regular house setup where we get our work done. Most of the people working here are from around this neighborhood. We walk to the local tea shop twice a day to take a break. The weather in Tumkur stays pretty warm, so we keep the fans running all day. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, but we just wait it out or chat until it comes back. It is a simple way of working, but it works for us. We don’t really have a big sign outside, so people usually have to ask around to find the right gate. The street is lined with trees and there are always a few stray dogs sleeping near the corner. It feels like a home because it mostly is one.
