Autoplast

You can find the Autoplast workshop over in Maralenahalli, right in Ward No. 1. We are situated directly opposite the Tumkur Lorry Owner's Association Petrol Bunk. It's a very handy landmark for us since everyone in this part of town knows where the bunk is. Sira Road gets a lot of traffic, mostly big lorries and trucks headed out towards the highway. We work with plastics here. It’s not the most glamorous kind of job, but it is what we know how to do. The smell of melting plastic is something you just get used to after working here for a week or two. Our building isn't anything special to look at from the outside. Inside, it's mostly machines and stacks of finished plastic parts waiting to be loaded onto a truck. The crew is local, mostly coming from the Oorukere Post area or some of the nearby villages. We start our day early to try and beat the afternoon heat. Sometimes the power goes out, which is a real pain for the injection machines, but we manage to get through it. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big words or marketing talk. We just make the parts and hope they do the job they were designed for. The lorry drivers stop by for a chat sometimes while they're waiting for fuel across the street. It’s a decent community vibe. We've got a lot of old molds piled up. It's a busy, messy, real place.
