Our site office is located in Soriyampatti, within the Manaparai Taluk. It's a bit of a drive to get out here, past the Muthalwarpatti Post area. Even though the official address says Karnataka, we are actually deep in the Trichy district landscape. It is a very quiet area, mostly made up of open fields and small winding roads. We set up here because this is where our current work is centered. The building we use is just a plain structure meant to keep our gear safe and provide some desks for the supervisors. It gets quite hot during the middle of the day, so we have a few old fans that make a lot of noise. We don't have any fancy corporate branding or posters on the walls. It’s mostly just calendars and site schedules tacked up with tape. The crew stays nearby, and we usually start work very early in the morning to beat the worst of the sun. Most of our day is spent walking around the site and talking to the machine operators. We have some local guys helping us out, which is good for knowing the area and the local ways. We don't really have a formal or stiff way of doing things; we just get the work done as it comes. Lunch is usually brought in from home or we go to a small stall down the road. It’s a simple life out here. We don't worry about being polished or looking like a big city firm.
