Swastik Traders

If you go down Paltan Road and head behind the Krishi Mandi, you will find Swastik Traders. We are tucked away a bit from the main road, which is actually nice because the Mandi can get incredibly loud during the peak hours of the morning. Most of our day is spent watching trucks pull in and out or checking the quality of the loads that come through our doors. The floor is usually covered in a bit of dust from the grain or whatever else we are handling that week. It is a very hands-on job, and we don't wear suits or sit in air-conditioned offices. We have a few desks where we handle the bills, but mostly we are on our feet moving around the warehouse area. The air smells like the earth and dried goods, which is a smell you get used to pretty quickly. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the afternoon, so we just open the big doors wide to let the natural light in so we can keep working. Our staff has been together for a long time, so we all know who is supposed to be doing what without having to say much. It is not the kind of place you see in a magazine, but it is where real business happens every single day. We stay focused on the tasks at hand and try to get home before it gets too dark.
