We operate out of a modest building on a street that gets quite a bit of foot traffic. We don't have fancy signs or a big lobby. It’s just a place where people can come to talk about their savings. We know most of our members personally. They are our neighbors and friends from the village and nearby areas. We try to keep things as simple as possible. No one likes dealing with confusing terms, so we use plain talk. We focus on grama seva, which is about serving the village community. Our desks are usually covered in papers because we do everything by the book. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till evening. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded in the office when several people show up at once, but we make do with the chairs we have. We aren't trying to be a big city bank. We are just a local Nidhi group doing our part for the people around Gorimettu Street. It’s a practical way to manage money together, and we enjoy being part of it. The street gets a bit noisy during festival times, but that is part of the charm of living and working here.
