Suvai Masalas

Suvai Masalas is located at No 2 in Naganampatti. If you walk past our building, you can usually smell the spices before you even see the sign. We spend most of our time grinding and mixing. It’s a bit of a dusty job, but someone has to do it. We started out small and stayed that way because it’s easier to manage. Our machines are old but they still work fine if you treat them right. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing team. Most of our customers are local shops that have been buying from us for years. We just focus on getting the ratios right. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit around and wait, which is just how it goes here. We have a couple of guys who handle the heavy bags. It’s physical work. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just make masalas. We pack them into bags, seal them up, and stack them in the corner until the truck comes. The floor is usually covered in a bit of powder by the end of the shift. We clean it up and start again the next morning. Naganampatti is where we’ve always been. It’s home for us and the business. We just keep our heads down and work. It might not be glamorous but it is what we know.
