Preethi Hospital

Our hospital is situated at No 2/5 3 Pleasant Avenue in the Park Town Extension area, right by Iyer Bungalow. It’s a residential sort of neighborhood, so things are relatively quiet compared to the main city center. The building has been here for a good while, and it shows in some of the corners and the way the doors creak occasionally. We have rooms for patients and a small area for emergencies. The staff mostly lives nearby, so we are all very familiar with Iyer Bungalow and the people who live around Pleasant Avenue. Every morning starts with a handover where we talk about who stayed the night and who is going home. The kitchen in the back makes simple meals for the patients, and you can usually smell whatever is cooking around lunchtime. It’s a busy place, but not in a frantic way—more of a steady, rhythmic kind of busy. We don't have any big corporate logos or polished receptionists; it’s just us in our uniforms doing the rounds and checking charts. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait for the generator to kick in, which is just part of living and working here. We focus on the basic stuff, making sure people are comfortable and that their needs are met without any extra drama. It’s a local hospital for local people, and that’s plenty for us. We just keep the lights on and the beds ready for whoever comes through the door.
