Micron Electricals

In the town of Kilpennathur, we have our shop for Micron Electricals at 15 M.G.R Nagar. This is a rural part of Tamil Nadu, so life moves at a bit of a slower pace compared to the big cities. We deal with all sorts of electrical items and supplies that the local people need for their homes or small farms. The shop is filled with rolls of wire, switches, bulbs, and various tools. It can get quite hot in this part of the country, especially during the summer months, so we have a few big fans running all day long. The walls are lined with wooden shelves that we built ourselves to hold all the stock. Most of our customers are people from the nearby villages who we have known for a long time. We don't do much advertising; people just know we are here in M.G.R Nagar when they need something fixed or a new part for their pump set. Usually, someone is sitting out front on a stool, watching the street and waiting for customers. We keep a ledger for the accounts and write everything down by hand. Sometimes we have to travel to the larger towns to pick up new stock, but mostly we stay here. It’s a simple, honest way to earn a living, and we enjoy being part of the local community in Kilpennathur. The shop smells like sawdust and old metal, which is how we like it. We usually close for a few hours in the peak afternoon heat.
