Mahalakshmi Store

I’ve been running Mahalakshmi Store here on Kavimani Street for quite a while now. It’s right in the Indian Bank Colony area of Narayanapuram. Most mornings start early, usually before the sun is even fully up, just to get everything ready for when people stop by on their way to work. The shop isn't huge, but we try to keep the basics on hand so folks don't have to travel too far for a bag of rice or some tea leaves. It gets busy in the evenings when everyone is heading home and remembers they forgot something for dinner. I know most of the faces around here by now. Sometimes the delivery trucks are late or the stock doesn't arrive exactly when it should, which is a bit of a headache, but that’s just how it goes. We deal with whatever comes up each day. The shelves are packed pretty tight because I don't like leaving empty spots if I can help it. Narayanapuram is a quiet place for the most part, and being here in the colony feels right. It’s a lot of work keeping up with what people need, and sometimes the accounting takes me longer than it should at night. But the doors open at the same time every day. It's just a regular shop doing regular things for the neighborhood. No big fuss about it. We’ve got some old wooden stools for anyone who needs to rest their legs after walking.
