Durga Metal Mart

Durga Metal Mart is located at 1268, North Street in Nachiyar Kovil. This street is always full of life, especially with all the metalwork going on around us. Our shop is one of those places where you’ll find piles of items stacked up to the ceiling. It can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it. The floor is concrete and usually has a bit of dust from the polishing work. We spend our mornings opening up the shutters and moving some of the heavier pieces out front so people can see them. North Street is a good place to be because there’s a lot of foot traffic. We’ve been at this number for quite a while now. The walls are covered with old calendars and a few photos. It’s not a modern showroom by any means. It’s a place for business, where we haggle a bit and talk about the quality of the brass or bronze. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps when things are slow and just watch the carts go by. Our neighbor sells tea, so we’re never short on that. It’s a basic setup, but it’s served us well. We don’t have a website or anything like that; people usually just find us by walking down the street or hearing about us from someone else in town.
