Out here in Elaiammanpettai Village, life moves at its own pace. We are located near the Pammbathakulam Post in the Red Hills area. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city but it suits us just fine. At Wood Rich India Pvt. Ltd., we spend most of our time dealing with raw materials and getting our hands dirty. The air always smells like sawdust and fresh timber around our yard. It’s a physical job and we have a small crew of locals who have been with us for years. We don't have a big corporate lobby with plants; we just have a gate and a shed where the machines are. Sometimes the noise is quite loud when the saws are running. We try to keep things organized but when a big shipment arrives, things get a bit cluttered for a few days. We don't use much technology besides the basics for keeping our logs. Most of our day is spent checking the quality of the wood and making sure the measurements are right. It can be hot under the tin roof during the summer months. We usually take our breaks together under the shade of the trees outside. It’s honest work and we like being part of this village community. People around here know where to find us if they need something done with wood.
