Shanmugaraj Stores

Shanmugaraj Stores is located at No 4/13 in Manali New Town. We are one of the small shops in this residential area of Chennai. It’s a simple setup where we sell groceries and daily household items. We’ve been here for several years now, and we’ve seen the kids in the neighborhood grow up. They used to come for small candies and now they come to buy groceries for their own homes. The shop is small and can get a bit cramped if more than three people are inside at once. We keep everything from rice and dal to matches and candles. It’s just how a local store works. Manali New Town is a bit far from the main city, so people rely on us for their immediate needs. We don't have any fancy displays. The goods are kept in glass jars or on wooden shelves. Sometimes the roof leaks a little during the heavy monsoon rains, so we have to move the bags around. We aren't a big corporation, just a family-run business. My son helps me with the accounts in the evening. We stay open as long as there are people on the street. It’s a lot of sitting and waiting sometimes, but we know our regulars well. We just try to have what people need so they don't have to go far. Some days the delivery truck is late and we have to wait around for it to arrive.
