So, S A Engineering College is right here in Thiruverkadu, specifically on that stretch between Poonamallee and Avadi road. We’ve been operating from this Veeraraghavapuram spot for quite some years now. It’s not a fancy place with glass walls or anything, just a solid building where people come to learn. Most mornings you’ll see students hopping off buses or getting dropped off right at the main gate. The weather gets pretty hot out here, but the classrooms do the job. We have different departments, the usual engineering stuff like mechanical and computer science. It’s a busy place during the week. The labs are usually full of people trying to get their experiments right before the bell rings. Sometimes the traffic on the main road makes things a bit loud, but you get used to it. We aren't trying to be some high-tech hub from a movie, just a local college where the staff knows most of the faces. People from around the neighborhood and further away come here because it’s familiar. There’s a canteen where everyone hangs out during breaks. It’s just how things go here day to day. We keep the machines running and the lectures happening. It’s a lot of work, but the faculty sticks to the schedule. No one puts on airs here, we just get on with the teaching and the learning. It feels like a real community once you've been here for a semester or two. Sometimes the fans are squeaky, but we make sure everyone can hear the lecture anyway.
