We are set up out at Balaji Farm in Peruvoyal for the Chennai Tada six-laning road project. This place is basically our home base while we get the highway work done. It is not like a city office at all; it is much more of a field site where you see trucks and equipment coming in and out all day. The ECC Division team stays busy here tracking the progress of the road. Living and working out this way means we are close to the actual construction, which is helpful when things need fixing fast. It can get pretty dusty and hot during the summer months, but that is just how it goes with roadwork in this part of Tamil Nadu. We have got our setup inside the farm area, which gives us enough room for the vehicles and the office trailers. Most of us spend more time outside on the road than sitting behind a desk. We talk to the local crews and make sure the materials are arriving on schedule. It is hard work and the hours can be long, especially when we are pushing to finish a specific section of the six-laner. People around here know us as the road crew. We just focus on the daily tasks and try to keep everything on track despite the weather or any delays with the supplies. We have been here since the project started and will stay until the road is done.
