Grofers

Our shop is right on 549 Bazar Street in Periyaapalayam. It is a pretty normal place where we stock the usual things people need for their kitchens. Since it is on Bazar Street, there is always some noise outside. People are walking by, bikes are honking, and it gets quite lively during the festival times. We open up early to get the bread and milk ready for whoever comes in first. The shelves are packed with all kinds of stuff and sometimes it is hard to find things if you are in a rush. We try to keep it organized but things get moved around. It is just a few of us working here. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass counters or restacking the rice bags. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit by the door where there is some light. It is not like those big supermarkets with the bright lights and air conditioning. It gets a bit warm in here during the summer months. Most of our regulars live just a few streets away so we know most of their names. We talk about the weather or the price of things while we bag up their items. It’s just a regular local shop. We don’t have any fancy displays or marketing stuff going on. We just sell groceries to whoever needs them and that’s about it for our day.
