Gkr Rice Mill

In the small village of Pudupattu, right at No. 1, is where Gkr Rice Mill is located. Being part of the Soonambedu Post in Seiyur Taluk means we are tucked away from the main city rush. It’s a quiet life until we start up the mill engines in the morning. Then, the whole yard is full of activity and the sound of processing. We use the open space to dry out the paddy when the sun is strong enough. You have to keep a constant eye on the clouds, though, because a sudden rain can ruin a lot of hard work. Our building is just a simple structure that’s seen a lot of use over the years. We don't have a huge staff, just a few local guys who know how to handle the equipment. Most of our days are spent checking the grain and making sure the bags are weighed correctly. It’s not a fancy business with big signs or advertisements. People in the village just know we are here when they need their rice milled. We try to be fair with everyone and keep things moving at a steady pace. Sometimes we sit under the big tree near the gate for a drink of water. It’s a long day, but there’s a certain peace to it. We just do our bit and keep the mill running as best we can.
