Creative Packaging

Down in Kolathur, specifically on Bhagavathi Amman Street, is where we do our packaging work. We’re at JP Homes, number 3/5. It’s a residential-feeling street but we’ve got our setup here. We make boxes and wrapping materials for all sorts of things. It’s dusty work because of all the cardboard and paper, so we’re always sweeping up. People in the neighborhood know us as the place with the stacks of brown paper outside. We started small, just helping out a few local vendors who needed boxes for their goods. Now we do a bit more, but it’s still just a local operation. The street gets narrow when trucks come to drop off supplies, so we have to move fast. It’s not a big corporate factory. It’s just a place where we measure, cut, and glue things together. Sometimes the machines are a bit loud, but the neighbors don’t mind too much. We work mostly during the daylight hours. If you walk past JP Homes, you’ll probably hear the tape guns going. We don't have a website with fancy photos. If someone needs a box, they just come by and talk to us. We figure out the size and get it done. It's practical work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Sometimes we have a coffee at the small shop on the corner when the heat gets to be too much and we need a break.
