Creative Die Casters

Our place is over at No 26B/9 in the Sidco Industrial Estate in Ambattur. If you know the area, you know it is always busy with trucks and people moving about. Die casting is what we do here, which basically means melting down metal and pouring it into molds to make specific shapes. It is hot work, especially in the afternoons when the Chennai heat is already high outside. We have big vats of molten alloy and we have to be really careful moving around them. The floor is covered in grit and small bits of metal scrap. We try to keep it organized, but when you are busy, the boxes tend to pile up near the exit. Most of the people working here have lived in Ambattur their whole lives. We see the same faces at the local tea shop every morning before we start the machines. We make a lot of small parts, things you probably would not notice in a car or a machine, but they have to be solid. We spend a lot of time checking the molds for cracks or wear because those things do not last forever. It is a noisy environment with the sound of the presses hitting the metal over and over. We do not really do anything fancy here, just practical work that keeps the orders moving. We keep our tools sharp and our eyes on the cooling cycles so the parts come out clean and ready for the next stage.
