Down at No. 295 in the Sidco Industrial Estate, things are always moving. This is where Comfy Shoe Makers Pvt. Ltd. is based. Ambattur is full of factories, and we are just one of them making footwear for people. The smell of leather and glue is pretty much everywhere here. It is a very practical setup. We have rows of machines for stitching and rubber soles piled up in the corners. It is not a quiet place at all. There is always the sound of hammers or the stitching machines going at full speed. We focus on making shoes that people can actually wear all day without their feet hurting. It sounds simple, but it takes a lot of steps to get it right. Some days are spent just sorting through piles of materials to find the right grade. We are not a boutique; we are a factory. We wear aprons and get our hands dirty every single day. The workers here have been doing this for a long time, so they can spot a bad seam from across the room. We do not have a fancy showroom with lights. We just produce the shoes, pack them, and send them out. It is hard work, especially when the summer heat hits the industrial estate.
