Our place is at No 20 Nizara Educational Campus in Muthapudupet. Being so close to the Indian Air Force base in Avadi means we get to hear the jets taking off quite often. It’s loud, but you stop noticing it after a week or two. Rajiv Nagar is a quiet enough area otherwise. We aren't doing anything out of the ordinary here. It’s an engineering college with the usual mix of students who are either very stressed or very relaxed. The buildings are spread out a bit, so there is some walking to do between classes. We have a lot of open ground which is nice when the weather isn't too hot, though in Chennai, it usually is. We don't have those fancy air-conditioned hallways you see in movies. We have big windows and ceiling fans that spin as fast as they can. The labs are where most of the real work happens, and they can get pretty messy with wires and parts everywhere. We just want people to come in, do their studies, and get their work done. It’s an honest way to spend the day. The tea shop just outside the gate is where most of the gossip happens. We’ve been part of this Avadi landscape for a while now and we’re just used to the routine. We just keep our heads down and keep the place running for the next batch.
