Piper International

We are over at Shed No 44 in the Tekic area of Tea Nagar. It’s part of the Mudalipalayam Sidco in Tirupur. If you know Tirupur, you know it’s a place that never really stops moving. There is always a truck being loaded or someone moving fabric somewhere. Our shed is one of many in this industrial layout. We’ve been here for a few years now, and the routine is pretty much the same every day. We open up early while the air is still a bit cool. Once the sun comes up, it gets quite warm inside the shed, so we keep the fans running at full speed. Piper International is basically just us working through piles of orders. We don't have any big corporate signs or a lobby with a fountain. It’s just a workspace with some tables and chairs. Most of the people working here have been with us since we moved to Sidco. We have tea breaks together twice a day, usually getting the tea from the small stall at the corner of Tea Nagar. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish a shipment for export, but we don't complain much. It’s just the way it goes in this industry. We focus on the work at hand and try to keep things organized despite the constant movement. It’s a practical life, and we are happy to be part of the local community here in Tamil Nadu.
