Tas Man Knits

You can find us at the Housing Unit in Ellis Nagar Post, which is over in Dharapuram. We’re part of the Erode district, so it’s a lot of textiles around here. Our building is 49/268. It’s a pretty straightforward place where we handle all the knitting work. The machines make a constant humming sound that you stop hearing after about ten minutes. We work with a lot of yarn and fabric every day. It gets quite warm in this part of Tamil Nadu, so we keep the windows open when we can. The workspace isn't very large, but we make it work by keeping everything in its place. Most of the people working here are from the local area. We’ve been doing this for a while now. It’s a lot of manual work, checking the knits for any loose threads or mistakes. We don't have a corporate office or anything like that. It’s just the unit where the production happens. Sometimes the monsoon rains make the roof a bit noisy, but we just keep working. We focus on the orders we get and try to make sure they're finished when we said they would be. It’s a regular job for us. We take pride in just getting the knitting done right without making a big fuss about it. That's life here in Dharapuram for us. We just keep the yarn moving and the machines running. It is what it is.
