Vasan Knit Garments

Vasan Knit Garments is situated at 18 Sree Prasanna Avenue in Anaikadu. It’s a nice enough area and we’ve been here long enough that we know most of the trees along the road. The building at number 18 is where we spend the majority of our lives, honestly. We do a lot of knitting work here, and the sound of the machines is something you just stop hearing after a while. It becomes like background noise that helps you focus. Anaikadu is a place where people know each other, so it’s got that small-town feel even when we’re really busy with a big order. We didn't start with a big plan or anything, just a few machines and a bit of space on Sree Prasanna Avenue. Now we have a bit more going on, but the way we work hasn't changed much. We still check every piece by hand because that’s just how we were taught to do it. It’s not about being fancy or having a glossy brochure. We just focus on the knits. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit and we all just sit outside on the steps and wait for it to come back on. Those are the moments when you really talk to your coworkers about life. It’s a simple life at the workshop. We don't have many rules other than doing the work right and showing up on time. It works for us.
