Sri Bannari Amman Textiles

Our place is at 1-221-a on the Pongalur Main Road. We are specifically in the Nallakalipalayam area under the Pollikaipalayam post. Being out on the main road means we see a lot of traffic passing by all day long. The textiles we have are mostly in large rolls or bundles that take up a lot of floor space. We don't have a lot of room for people to walk around, so you kind of have to squeeze through the aisles. The air inside always has a bit of lint floating around because of all the fabric we move. It gets stuck to your clothes by the end of the day. We spend a lot of time measuring out lengths of cloth for people who come in from the nearby farms and villages. It is hard work on the back, leaning over the cutting tables for hours. We are not a fancy boutique with air conditioning; we just have a couple of ceiling fans that hum loudly while we work. Some days the heat is really something else, especially when the machines are running nearby. We just keep our heads down and get the orders ready. It is a steady way to make a living and we have been at it for years now. The shop is just a practical space for practical work, nothing more and nothing less.
