Union Garments

If you take the turn at Parapalayam Pirivu and head toward Mannarai Post, you will find us over at Union Garments. We are located at S. F No. 137/1 in Venkatachalapathi Nagar. It is a quiet enough spot compared to the main city center, which helps us focus on what we are doing. We mostly spend our time cutting fabric and making sure the stitching is right on the clothes we put together. There is a handful of us working here every day. Most of us have lived around this area for a long time. The building isn't huge, but it fits everything we need like the sewing machines and the big cutting tables. We started this place because we knew how to make garments and wanted to do it on our own terms. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded when a big order comes in, and we have boxes stacked up near the door. It is a bit of a mess during the busy season. We drink a lot of coffee and try to keep the machines running smooth. You can hear the hum of the needles from the street if the windows are open. It is just honest work. We do not do much advertising; people usually just find us by word of mouth or by stopping in when they are passing through the neighborhood. We like it that way. It is just a local shop doing what we know how to do, day in and day out.
