Tamil Nadu Steel Corporation

Tamil Nadu Steel Corporation is located right on Dharapuram Road in Udumalpet. It’s a dusty place, as you’d expect with all the metal moving around. We deal with steel bars, sheets, and all that kind of heavy stuff. It can get pretty hot during the day, especially when the sun is hitting the yard. We’ve got a small office on the side where we handle the paperwork, but most of the work happens outside or in the shed. We’ve been in Udumalpet for quite some time. The trucks come in and out all day long. It's a lot of loading and unloading. We use the crane quite a bit. It’s not a quiet job. You hear the clanging of metal pretty much from eight in the morning until we close up. We don't really do much in the way of decorating the place. It's a functional yard meant for steel. Our team is used to the heavy lifting. We know the regulars who come in for their building projects. Dharapuram Road is a busy stretch, so there's always something going on outside our gate. We just try to get the orders loaded correctly and get the trucks back on the road. It's straightforward work. No frills here. We just focus on keeping the inventory counted so we don't run out of the common sizes when people need them. Sometimes it’s hard to hear over the noise.
