U Ram Fashions

Our place, U Ram Fashions, is located at No. 6 Pudukadu Extension on K. P. Pudur Road. It’s a bit of a walk from the main bus stop, but it’s a nice enough area once you get used to the turns. We have a modest setup here where we handle a lot of garment work. The front door is usually propped open to let in a bit of a breeze because it gets quite stuffy with all the sewing machines running at once. There are spools of thread in every color you can imagine lined up on the shelves, though they are never as organized as we want them to be. We spend the morning cutting patterns and the afternoons are mostly spent at the machines. It’s a steady rhythm of clicking and whirring that fills the room. We don't have a big fancy sign or anything like that. People who know us just know which gate to come through. Sometimes the power goes out and we all have to take a break and sit outside on the steps until it comes back on. We use that time to talk or grab a snack from the vendor down the road. It is just a regular fashion workshop where we put in the hours and try to keep things moving. There is a lot of fabric dust in the air, but that is just part of the job when you work with clothes all day long.
