If you walk down Universal Theatre Road in Tirupur, you will find us at Number 77. This part of town is usually buzzing because of all the garment work going on nearby. Our office is a simple space where we manage the chit groups. It is not very large, but there is enough room for a few of us to sit and for the members to come in. The chairs are a bit old and the walls could use some fresh paint, but it stays cool enough inside. We spend our mornings checking the previous day's collections and getting the receipts ready. Many of our members work in the local factories and they drop by after their shifts are over. It gets a bit crowded on those days. We don't use any fancy systems, just a basic computer and a lot of paper folders. The sound of the traffic outside is constant, especially the bikes zooming past the theater area. We keep some water in the corner for anyone who walks in out of the sun. It is just a regular local business. We know most people who come through the door by their first names. We stay busy with the numbers and making sure the monthly payouts happen on time. There is always someone coming in with a question about their balance or wanting to know when the next meeting is. We just take it one day at a time here.
