Ponkalai Knit Wear

We are located at number 17 on Gandhi Street. It’s a small place, but it’s where we do all our knitwear work. The street is usually quite lively with people going about their business. We keep our doors open most of the time to get a bit of air inside while we are working. It’s a straightforward setup with our machines and shelves for the yarn. We don’t spend any time on fancy decorations or trying to look bigger than we are. It’s just us and the work. Every morning, we start by checking what needs to be knitted next. Sometimes the colors of the yarn don't come in exactly right, and we have to figure out a way to make it work. That is just part of the daily challenge. We aren't a big factory with hundreds of workers. There are only a few of us here, and we all know each other well. We have lived in this area for a long time, so Gandhi Street feels like home to us. We don’t do any big advertising. People just know where we are if they need something knitted. We try to be practical and just get the job done without any fuss. It’s a quiet life in many ways, even with the noise of the machines. We just focus on our daily tasks and making sure each piece is handled carefully before it goes out. We aren't trying to change things, just keeping the shop running.
