Akshaya Dharshini Garments

Our shop, Akshaya Dharshini Garments, is at Door No. 5 on Thillai Nagar 2nd Street. We are just off Dharapuram Road. It’s a residential-turned-commercial kind of street, so it’s got a bit of a mixed feel to it. We’ve been here for some time now, focusing on making clothes. The space we work in isn't very large, so we have to stay pretty organized to fit all the sewing machines and the cutting tables. There’s a narrow staircase that leads up to our floor, and the walls are filled with shelves of thread and different types of trim. We spend most of our time measuring and cutting and sewing. It’s not a corporate environment at all. It’s more like a family-run spot where everyone knows their job. The sunlight comes in through the side windows in the morning, which helps with the detailed work. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. People mostly find us through word of mouth or by just walking past on their way to the main road. Sometimes we have tea brought in from the shop across the street when we are feeling tired. We just focus on the task at hand and try to make sure every garment is finished properly before it gets folded and bagged for the customers. It’s a humble place, but we work hard every day to keep the machines running and the orders moving along.
