The Jai Fashions

The Jai Fashions is tucked away at No. 1/1 on 2nd Street in Mp Nagar. We are right near Rupa Hospital in the Kongu Nagar Extension area. It is an interesting spot because you see a lot of people walking by who are visiting the hospital or the clinics nearby. The shop is small and sits on a street that isn't too wide. We have our sewing machines set up toward the back where the light is a bit better. You can usually hear the hum of the motors throughout the day. We spend a lot of time measuring fabric and cutting patterns on the big wooden table in the middle of the room. The floor is just plain concrete, and it has some stains from years of work. We don't mind it much. There are stacks of fabric rolls leaning against the walls in the corners. Every now and then, the power goes out and we have to sit and wait for it to come back on. We usually just sit on the steps outside and watch the traffic go by until the lights flicker again. It is a very practical kind of place. We don't have fancy decorations or big posters. Just our tools, our thread, and the garments we are working on. It’s a lot of manual labor, but it is what we know how to do every single day.
