The Gyes Garments

The Gyes Garments is located at No. 9 in the S. S. Complex. It is a busy little spot in Puliyamaram because the Kumar Gas Service is right nearby. You can always hear the trucks coming and going all day. The shop isn't huge, but we make it work for the garments we keep here. Every morning, one of us gets here early to pull up the metal shutters. The street outside is usually a bit dusty, so the first thing we do is wipe down the racks and the glass counter. It is just a regular shop with some fluorescent lights that buzz a little bit if they have been on too long. We have a couple of plastic stools for people to sit on if they are tired from walking. The fans on the ceiling do their best, but when it is noon, it still gets quite warm inside. We spend most of the time folding shirts and stacking them back on the shelves after people look through them. It can get a bit cluttered when a new shipment comes in and we have to find space for everything. We don't have any fancy displays or anything. Just our name on a board outside. Sometimes the delivery guys from the gas service pop in to say hello or ask for a glass of water. It is a simple place where we just go about our work every day.
