Saakthi Rithanya Garments

Our place is at Number 21 on Teachers Colony 2nd Street in Kumarananthapuram. It is a quiet street for the most part, which I like. Saakthi Rithanya Garments is basically a small house that we turned into a workspace. You can hear the sound of the sewing machines clicking away throughout the day. We have a few local ladies who come in to help with the sewing and the finishing touches. The rooms are a bit small, so we have to be careful not to trip over the rolls of cloth on the floor. We keep the windows open to let in the breeze, but sometimes the mosquitoes get in too. It is a very simple operation. We don't have any big corporate signs out front, just a small board so people know they have the right house. Most of the people around here know us by now. We work hard during the day and usually close up before it gets too dark. It is nice being in a colony because it feels safe and friendly. We are just a small group of people trying to make a living with our hands. It is not always easy, but it is good work and we are glad to have it. The metal gate at the entrance makes a loud scraping noise every time someone opens it, so we always know when a delivery is coming.
