Suki Garments

My shop, Suki Garments, is located at No. 1 Shenbaga Nagar Main Road in Pitchampalayam. It’s a busy part of town, and the road outside is always full of scooters and delivery vans. We spend our days cutting fabric and checking the seams on the shirts and pants we make. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but we take it seriously so we don't have to redo anything. I’ve worked in the garment trade for years, and opening this place was just the next step for me. We don't have a big corporate office or a board of directors. It’s just me and a small crew working through the orders as they come in. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish a batch, especially when a deadline is breathing down our necks. We don't use fancy labels or try to act like we are a big fashion house. We just make clothes that people can actually wear and afford. The building at Shenbaga Nagar isn't anything special to look at, but it’s sturdy and keeps the rain off the sewing machines. We keep the doors open for a breeze when it’s hot, and you can hear the sounds of the street while we work. It’s a local business, plain and simple. We know the other shop owners around here and we help each other out when someone needs a spare part or a bit of thread. It is just a steady way of life for us.
