Stable Fashions

We are over at 6 Ckk Industrial Complex on Dharapuram Road. It is a busy spot, especially when the trucks are trying to turn in. We have been here for a good while now, just making clothes and trying to stay out of the heat. The workshop isn't anything fancy to look at, just some tables and old machines that we keep running. Most of us have been working together for years, so we don't need to talk much to get things done. We spend the whole day surrounded by rolls of fabric and bits of thread on the floor. It’s just how it goes. Sometimes the power cuts out and we just sit outside on the steps until it comes back on. Dharapuram Road is always noisy, but you get used to the sound of the traffic after a week or two. We just focus on what’s in front of us. It’s a living. We aren't trying to be the biggest place around, just trying to do the work right so we can go home at night. The morning tea is probably the best part of the day, honestly. We all stand around the front gate and talk about nothing much before the machines start up. There is a small shop down the road that sells samosas, so we usually go there for lunch. It is a lot of hard work and the fans don't always do enough, but we manage. We’ve seen the area change a lot, but our little corner stays the same.
