Ssp Apparels is based at No. 277/2c-3 on the Ganapathy Palayam Main Road. We’re in the Veerapandi area, which is a busy hub for people making clothes. My uncle and I started this business about six years ago. We have a small unit where we handle everything from cutting the fabric to the final packing. It’s not a shiny corporate office, just a functional space with bright lights and the sound of machines running. We spend a lot of time on the phone with suppliers trying to get the best prices on cotton. The main road can be quite dusty, so we have to keep the windows shut most of the time to keep the fabric clean. We have about ten workers who help us out. Most of them live nearby, so they just walk to work. We don’t really do any advertising. People know us because we’ve been in the industry for a while. Sometimes we take on small orders that other big places won't touch. It’s hard work, and the profit margins are thin, but we enjoy being our own bosses. Every evening, we check the progress and plan for the next day. Sometimes the power cuts out, and we have to use the generator. It’s just part of the daily grind. We aren't trying to change the world, just making clothes that people can use and keeping the business going.
