You can find Sri Durga Fashion at 14 Gopal Nagar in Perichipalayam. It’s a regular house that we converted into a workspace a few years back. The front room is where we keep the finished pieces and the back is where the actual work happens. Perichipalayam is a good neighborhood, mostly families and other small workshops like ours. We don't have any big signs outside, just the name written near the door so people know they are at the right place. The sewing machines run for most of the day and you can hear them from the street if you are walking by. We do a mix of different styles depending on what the local shops are asking for that month. It’s a small team, just me and a few others from the area. We drink tea together twice a day and talk about the work or what’s going on in town. Sometimes we run out of a certain thread and have to send someone to the market quickly to get more. It’s not a high-tech operation, we just use the tools we have and try to do a good job for our customers. The space gets a bit cramped when we have a big order but we manage to work around each other without much trouble.
