Sree Rahavendhra Knitting Mills

The machines at 9/21 Jai Nagar are pretty loud, so you have to get used to the constant humming if you spend any time here. We are tucked away on Ranganathapuram 2nd Street, just off Kongu Main Road. It’s a busy area with a lot of textiles around, but we just focus on our own knitting work. There’s yarn everywhere—on the shelves, near the machines, and sometimes even sticking to our clothes when we leave for the day. We’ve been in this spot for a good while, and the routine hasn't changed much over the years. We start early in the morning when it's still a bit cool, because the mill gets quite warm once all the equipment has been running for a few hours. It’s a practical setup without any fluff. We just move from one task to the next, making sure the needles are moving like they should. If something breaks down, we fix it ourselves and keep going. The neighborhood is mostly other small businesses and houses, so it feels like a real community. People walk past the open doors and see us working all day long. We don’t really do much marketing or anything; the work just comes in and we get it done. It’s a straightforward life here in Jai Nagar. We mostly just drink our coffee, check the tension on the threads, and keep the pace steady until it’s time to go home.
