Selvalakshmi Garments

Selvalakshmi Garments is located at No. 1 Vaikkal Thottam, right along Palladam Road. It’s a busy road with a lot of trucks going past, so it can get pretty loud and dusty. Our building is right at the front of the patch of land they call Vaikkal Thottam. We’ve been making garments here for quite a while. It’s mostly a workshop setup. We have rows of machines and a big area for ironing and packing things up. The roof is made of tin sheets, so when it rains, you can barely hear yourself talk inside. We don't have a fancy showroom. Most of our work is done for other businesses that send us orders. We spend our days keeping track of thread colors and making sure the machines are oiled properly. My wife helps with the accounts and the packing. We usually start our day early before the sun gets too hot. There’s a big tree outside where we sit sometimes to have our tea during the break. It’s a simple life and we aren't trying to grow into some huge corporation. We just like doing our work here in this corner of the town and making sure the people who work with us are treated okay. Most of our workers have been with us since we opened up the place years ago.
