Santhya Texports

Our office is at No. 5 Deivaniammal Layout on Dharapuram Road. This is in the Perichipalayam East area of Tirupur. Being in Tirupur means we are surrounded by textile businesses everywhere you look. Santhya Texports is just one of many, but we’ve been at this layout for a long time. The road outside can be quite dusty because of all the construction and the trucks. We have a small front yard with a few plants that we try to keep alive despite the heat. Inside, it’s mostly tables for checking the fabrics and a few desks for the paperwork. We don't have air conditioning, just the big industrial fans that move the hot air around. We spend our days looking at threads and making sure the colors are right. It’s a lot of looking at small details until your eyes get tired. We drink a lot of water throughout the day. The neighbors in Deivaniammal Layout are mostly other small businesses, so we all know each other. Sometimes we borrow things like pens or tape from the shop next door when we run out. Dharapuram Road is the main way to get into the city, so it’s always loud. We don't mind it much anymore. It’s just the sound of the city working. We finish up around six or seven and lock everything up tight before heading home to our families. It’s a steady pace here.
