S. R. M. Fashions

If you walk down Periyar 2nd Street in M. G. R. Nagar, which is part of the Samundipuram area, you’ll find us at number 17. S. R. M. Fashions isn't a big, flashy fashion house like you might see on TV. We’re more of a local workshop where we put together different styles of clothing. The building is just a regular one on a regular street, and we’ve been here for a while now. Most days, the place is a bit of a mess with scraps of fabric and different colored threads everywhere, but that’s just how we work. We don’t really follow a strict corporate manual. We just know what needs to be made and we get to it. Sometimes we try out new patterns, and if they look good, we keep them. If not, we try something else. It’s a lot of trial and error, honestly. The people who work here are mostly from the surrounding neighborhood, so it feels like a bit of a family. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the day while we work. We don't use big words to describe our clothes or pretend to be something we’re not. We just make clothes that people can wear every day. It’s a humble setup, but it keeps us going. If you're ever walking around here, you'll probably hear our machines humming away. That’s just us doing our thing.
