Saara Knits

Saara Knits is tucked away over here on Dharapuram Road. Specifically, we are in the Therkku Thottam area, right near Knp Colony Road. It is a bit of a walk from the main bus stop if you are coming by public transport. This part of Palavanji Palayam is full of little workshops just like ours. You can hear the machines humming from the street before you even see the door. We do a lot of knitting work in this building. The air is always a bit fuzzy with tiny bits of cotton lint floating around. We wear masks sometimes when the dust gets to be too much for us. It is not a glamorous job, but we have been doing it for many years now. The floor is just plain concrete and we have a few old plastic chairs for when we take our tea breaks. We mostly handle bulk orders for basic items like t-shirts. The light in the morning is really good for checking the stitches. By the time evening rolls around, we are all usually pretty tired and ready to head home. We do not have a big team for selling or advertising. It is just us and the machines. We try to keep the place tidy, but it is hard with all the waste yarn lying around. There is a small tea stall just around the corner where we go twice a day. The guys there already know our order.
