Saan Knits

We are over on Angeripalayam Road in the Khader Layout area. It is a busy spot with lots of trucks moving around all day. Our place, Saan Knits, is at No. 3/10- C and it’s mostly just a floor full of knitting machines. It gets pretty loud when everything is running at once. We started this because we knew how to handle the yarn and there was space here. Most days start early with a cup of tea from the stall at the corner. We spend hours looking at needles and checking for snags in the fabric. It is not a glamorous job. Dust from the cotton gets on everything, including our clothes. We don’t have a big fancy office with chairs. We just have the work benches and the storage area. People from the neighborhood stop by sometimes to chat or ask about work. We have a few people helping us out. Some have been here since we opened. We just try to finish the batches on time so the pick-up guys don't have to wait. The building is a bit old and the roof leaks a tiny bit when it rains really hard, but we just move the stuff out of the way. It’s a real local operation. We don’t do much advertising. People just know we are here in the layout. It’s simple work but we keep at it every day.
