Orange Knitwear

Orange Knitwear is based in the S. R. T Compound on Dharapuram Road. It’s a good location for us. We do all our production right here in the compound. It’s mostly knitwear, like the name says. We have a lot of different machines for various types of stitches. The floor is usually covered in lint and small scraps of yarn. We try to sweep it up, but it just comes back. That’s the nature of the work. We aren't trying to be fancy. We just make clothes that feel right and don't cost too much. The Dharapuram Road area is always humming with activity, which keeps us on our toes. We have a few long-term customers who keep us busy throughout the year. We don't spend money on ads or big signs. People find us by word of mouth or they see our trucks. It’s a straightforward business. We show up, we work the machines, we pack the boxes, and we go home. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to fix them ourselves, which can be a real headache. But we get through it. We’ve been here long enough that we know all the tricks of the trade. It’s just us, doing our best to keep things moving. No fuss, no big speeches. Just knitwear. We keep a stack of extra parts in the corner because you never know when a belt will snap or a needle will break.
