Sri Amman Knitwear

If you are looking for us, we are tucked away at No. 16 Kumarappapurm 5th Street. It is in the Rayapuram Extension area, which stays pretty active during the day. Sri Amman Knitwear is where we spend most of our time, honestly. The building isn't new, but it handles the weight of the knitting machines just fine. We have been working on 5th street for some years and have seen the neighborhood change a bit, but we just keep at our tasks. Knitting involves a lot of noise and thread everywhere. It is a bit of a dusty job sometimes but that is part of the business. We don't have a receptionist or a big lobby. When you walk in, you usually see someone busy with a machine or packing up finished pieces. It is a straightforward operation. We use simple tools and follow the orders as they come in. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish a batch, especially if the power goes out for a bit, which happens. The walk down to Rayapuram is familiar to everyone working here. We just want to do our work without making a big fuss about it. It’s a local place and we like it that way. No one wears suits here, we just wear what’s comfortable for moving around heavy rolls of fabric and checking the seams. We keep the machines oiled and the yarn stocked up for whatever comes next.
