Ramya Fashion

Our business, Ramya Fashion, is tucked away at No. 8/286 inside the Raja Rajeswari Ginning Factory Compound. Being located on Dharapuram Road means there is a lot of traffic and noise outside, but once you get inside the compound, it feels a bit different. The air often smells like raw cotton and old machinery because of the other businesses nearby. Our space is functional and mostly filled with fabric and half-finished garments. We don't have a big fancy showroom. If someone wants to see what we are making, they usually just walk right into the work area. We have a few old fans that rattle all day long to keep the air moving. It gets very hot in the afternoons, so we try to get the hardest work done early in the morning. The floor is usually covered in little scraps of thread and cloth by the time we finish for the day. We are just a group of people trying to make a living by sewing and packing clothes. We don't use any high-tech systems to track things. We mostly just use notebooks and our memory. The gate to the compound is sometimes tricky to find if it’s your first time coming here. We tell people to look for the old ginning factory sign. It’s a bit rough around the edges but it’s where we work every day. We don't mind the mess much as long as we get the work done.
