Maurya Garments

We are Maurya Garments, located at No. 1 S. P. S. Colony in the Cheran area. We are right near the Chennipore Theatre and Nagar North Rakkiyapalayam. It is a nice local spot to be in. We mostly focus on making everyday clothes for people in the area. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stay organized or we quickly run out of room for the fabric rolls and finished boxes. I started this place with a friend because we wanted to work for ourselves instead of for someone else. We spend most of our mornings checking the stitching and making sure the colors match up like they should. Sometimes we stay late when a big order is due, just drinking tea and listening to the radio while we finish up. It is a quiet neighborhood for the most part, except when the theatre nearby has a big movie show going on. We do not have a fancy showroom with lights. People usually just come by and see what we are working on at the moment. We try to keep our prices reasonable so local folks can afford what we make. It is a lot of physical work, and my hands are usually tired by the end of the day, but it is satisfying to see someone wearing something we made ourselves. We just keep things simple and try to do right by people.
