You’ll find us at Sf No. 506 in Rajiv Nagar. We are on 5th Street, which is quite close to the Oomai Karupparayan Koil. It’s a quiet part of Samundipuram South compared to the main hub of Tiruppur, but we still have plenty of work. Being exporters, our days are mostly filled with checking fabric and looking at stitching. The temple nearby is a good landmark for people who get lost trying to find our street. We have a small crew here, and most of us have been working together for years. The room where we do the packing is always full of cardboard boxes and tape dispensers. You can hear the sound of the tape being pulled all day long. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a workspace where we get things ready to send out. Sometimes the goats from the neighborhood wander onto the street outside and we have to shoo them away so the trucks can get through. It’s a local life. We drink a lot of coffee from the shop around the corner. By the end of the day, our backs usually ache a bit from standing over the inspection tables. We just make sure everything is sorted into the right piles. It’s a lot of repetition, but that’s how the work gets done in this part of town without any fuss.
