Rahul Knit Wear

Our workshop is down on Dharapuram Road, right at No. 4/32 in the Vadakku Thottam area. If you know the neighborhood, we are directly opposite the TNK Vidthyalaya School. During the mornings and afternoons, the street gets incredibly busy with parents dropping off kids and school buses trying to turn around. It’s a lively place to be, even if the honking gets a bit much sometimes. Inside Rahul Knit Wear, the sound of the machines is pretty much the background music to our lives. We’ve got rows of equipment that have been running for years, and they still do the job just fine. The floor is usually covered in little bits of thread and lint, no matter how often we try to sweep it up. It’s just part of the business. We don't have a big corporate sign or anything, just a small one near the gate. Most of the people working here live nearby, so it feels like a bit of a family environment, even when we are all stressed about a deadline. We keep the windows open to let the air circulate, but that also lets in the dust from the road. It’s not a perfect setup, but it’s ours. We usually eat lunch together in the small back room or just out by the front steps if it isn't too hot. We focus on getting the knitting right and making sure the quality is okay before anything leaves the building.
